As someone who has always been active in sport and fitness I loved the idea of functional fitness training and weightlifting. The love of these sports coupled with my personal successes in powerlifting I knew the passion for these endeavours could be channelled into a force for good. Having been surrounded by the effects of Cancer my entire life, I knew that I wanted to help raise money to support the charities that fought against this terrible condition. I knew from meeting people in the fitness community that I was not alone in this and saw a chance to use my spare time to build something that could have a huge impact on fighting cancer. Along the journey of fundraising and building Battle Cancer co-founder Peter and me have been touched by reading the stories of those who have taken part in our events. We got to meet people at our event who shared their personal stories with us and we cannot be more thankful of the response from the UK community so far.
I work in the emergency services by day and love to compete in powerlifting, I’m lucky enough to compete at European and world level and live in the beautiful Devon region of the UK. I dream of being part of an effort that will one day raise a collective of £1 million for UK Cancer Charities and won’t stop until we get rid of this terrible condition.
