Beth, Team Ssons & Dottirs

My New Year’s Resolution this year was to do something for Charity every month.

So far, so good but then everything changed in April.  My brave amazing mum got diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a double mastectomy last month and we are currently awaiting the results from the biopsies they took. She is doing so well and I’m so proud of her. Strong is an understatement when it comes to my Mum!

This changed the boundaries of my ‘New Year’s Resolution Monthly Charity Challenge’ and it is now my goal to raise £1000 by the end of the year for Cancer Research.

I am still taking on a challenge each month and I asked my friends if they wanted to join me for Battle Cancer Manchester as my August Challenge. As I expected they wer, and we have ended up entering two mixed teams into the event. Their support means the world to me and my family. This support isn’t taken lightly as it’s so important to know you have people surrounding you with positive energy and who are there for you at the drop of a hat. I can’t thank them enough.

Our team name is SSONS & DOTTIRS inspired by all the amazing Icelandic CrossFit athletes and weightlifters but more importantly, it means I get to wear my Mum’s name, Anthea on my shirt. On the day I will be known as ANTHEASDOTTIR. I’m doing this for you Mum and hopefully helping many more families as well. Stay Strong. We’re in this together. xxx
